Uranus Year 5
Uranus Year 5
Welcome to Uranus class.
We are Year 5; we love to learn and we support each other with kindness and friendship. We will be reading different types of books and working on our writing skills, including extending our use of punctuation and vocabulary, as well as developing our understanding of number, shape and measure in Maths. We will have lots of fun with our learning and aim to increase our confidence in taking risks to improve our knowledge.
Reading is a very important skill that underpins everything we do! You will be expected to have a reading book in school every day. This book should go home and someone at home should try and read with you at least once per week. Your reading book should be returned to the classroom each morning and taken home again each evening. In class we try and read with each child at least once per week and with target readers every day. You will also be expected to access Reading Plus at home (some children are working on Nessy) and you will have a target to meet each week.
SCIENCE in Year 5. Today the children started planning a filtration experiment. We learnt all about types of filtration and looked at different water samples, what they contain and how we are going to filter out the solids from the liquids. We’re looking forward to seeing how different filters work on the different samples next week.
