• What's on offer for children and families during the summer holidays?

  Central Bedfordshire Council is running a campaign to showcase the various activities taking place this summer across Central Bedfordshire, for families to enjoy together.

   

  Children and families can make the most of a variety of activities, including holiday clubs at the Council’s leisure centres, play sessions at its children’s centres, and various activities at its 12 libraries – including the annual Summer Reading Challenge!

   

  Central Bedfordshire has over 1,000 hectares of beautiful countryside, and families can enjoy free outdoor spaces, walking and cycling trails and circular walks. There will also be activities taking place at Rushmere Country Park, Houghton Hall Park and the Forest of Marston Vale.

   

  There are activities taking place which are specially designed for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families – including SEND swimming sessions at pools across Central Bedfordshire.

• IN HONOUR OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II

  It is with great sadness that the death of Her Majesty The Queen has been announced. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathy are with the Royal Family at this time.

  Flags are being flown at half-mast on appropriate buildings during the mourning period.

  Books of Condolence will be open from 9am Saturday, 10 September 2022 at various locations throughout the county, including the main reception areas at Luton Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council (Priory House) and the Harper Suite in Bedford. Offices at council buildings will remain open from 8am to 5pm until the day after the funeral.

  

• Thomas Whitehead CE Academy achieves School Games Gold Mark!!

  Thomas Whitehead CE Academy has been awarded the GOLD award by School Games. The School Games aim is to put physical activity and competitive sport at the heart of schools and provide more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best. The children of Thomas Whitehead have attended lots of events and  competed in sporting activities against other schools. Every team has showed strenghth, and resilience at times, but has always tried their best, shown good team work and sportsmanship, as well encouragement and support for each other. Well done to everyone who took part. We are very proud of this award!

  Welcome to our brand new school website! We have created the website to keep parents up to date with school news and notices, and to showcase some of the great things our pupils are achieving. The website is extremely easy to edit by all staff at the school, so check back soon for new updates!
